RESISTENCIA

"I was fighting. But against whom? Violence, injustice, society? I think I was fighting against myself."

Critical text

by André de Sá Moreira

In front of a black wall marked by a partially torn poster bearing a revolutionary slogan, the artist spirals into a causeless rage.

He says nothing comprehensible. He growls, hisses, whistles, pushes.
His body is tense.

His fists are raised but without direction.
His gaze, wide and worried, seems to be searching for an invisible enemy or a forgotten objective.

The presence of the poster—“Against Reaction and Fascism”—creates a spectacular dissonance: the content is political, but the form is dysfunctional. It is not a cry of revolt, but a failure of inner uprising. The anger spins in a loop, with no outlet.

The artist mimes a revolution he does not control, like our contemporary impulses towards change: grotesque, sincere, and ineffective.
