PEACE

«We often find ourselves wanting to defy the absurdity of urban prohibitions.»
— Andros Dresamore i

Critical note

by André de Sá Moreira

Sitting beneath a “No Parking” sign,

Andros Dresamore i remains motionless. Cars pass in front of him, but their noise is erased, replaced by birdsong. The urban chaos suddenly becomes pastoral, artificially soothed. It’s a silent rebellion. He settles where nothing should remain. The cars rumble, but we no longer hear them. They become visual ghosts, swept away by impossible bird trills. The city is hacked, transformed into a pastoral setting. But the sign remains there, authoritarian, ridiculous, the only reminder of a rule that no longer applies to anyone. We wonder: who is really forbidden here? The artist, the cars, or us, the watchers?

He doesn't move. Cars pass by, invisible to the eardrum. We only hear a fantasized nature. A moment of impossible peace, as if the city were apologizing for its din. Like a sound postcard stuck to a highway.
