JAWS

“What if our fear comes from ourselves?”
— Andros Dresamore i

Note critique

by André de Sá Moreira

Andros Dresamore i becomes a predator. His body slides along a wall, clumsily reproducing the movements of a fish. The Jaws soundtrack creates an unbearable tension. Then he turns around, his eyes fixed on the camera. He advances, slowly, inexorably, towards us. The wall is no longer a backdrop; it becomes an ocean reduced to a flat surface. The artist threatens the viewer, and perhaps even devours him. It is the predator within him reborn.

The scene is chillingly simple. We hold our breath. The danger doesn't come from elsewhere, it comes from within, towards us.
