In this cycle, Andros Dresamore i pursues a choreographic exploration without a program, where dance emerges without justification, often in broad daylight, sometimes at night, sometimes alone, sometimes accompanied by his dog.
These videos capture the appearance of a gesture in a place that doesn't expect it.
The artist does not dance "in" public space:
he dances against it, dances alongside it, dances in spite of it.The locations are banal: sidewalks, industrial zones, deserted squares.
The dance is minor, fragmented, often slowed down, sometimes absent.The dog—named Byron—is an additional consciousness, a disinterested animality, sometimes more performative than the artist himself.
No spectator is planned.
Passersby don't interrupt anything.
The absence of gaze is part of the piece.
These are dances without intention, in places without drama, in the service of a body without function.
The artist disarms urban space by injecting it with useless gestures, like a bug in the software of functionality. His "Dances" cycle is a gentle attack on the tyranny of directed daily movement.
