RAIN OR
SNOW

"Dancing in the Rain"
— Andros Dresamore i

Critical note

by André de Sá Moreira

Two versions of him coexist in the same shot. One, exposed to the sun: upright, present, vaguely determined. The other, drenched in rain.

There is no stage. Just a street. A gate. A wall. And yet, everything is there: the tension of being there for no reason, the insistence of a gesture without function.
Hands in his pockets, his weight shifts. An almost imperceptible oscillation.

He dances. Discreetly. Inwardly.
Without choreography, without even seeming to know he's dancing.
Neither the rain nor the sun seem to affect him. He passes through them.

One could speak of presence.
A way of waiting for something that won't come—or that has already come.

Time has replaced action.
And the ground, made shiny by the rain, becomes a listening surface. It's not that nothing is happening. It is that time has taken the place of movement.

Testimony

We watched this fixed man, vibrating in the sun and then in the rain. He seemed happy, motionless in a changing world. What if the only real difference between joy and weariness was to stop there and dance in the rain?
